Descripción

Este maravilloso Frontonio procede de viñedos tradicionales cultivados en vaso y de secano, de forma sostenible, cuyas uvas son criadas en antiguas cuevas. San Frontonio, mártir decapitado cuya cabeza legendariamente fue encontrada río arriba, simboliza el espíritu de la bodega de ir a contracorriente para presentar tintos nuevos como este.

Viñedos situados a 650 metros de altitud sobre el nivel del mar con orientación noroeste en el pueblo de Alpartir. Viticultura ecológica.

La vendimia manual fue a mitad de septiembre de 2021. Las uvas son recogidas en cajas de 18 kilogramos.
Vinificación
Utilizaron racimos 100% llenos para la fermentación con levaduras autóctonas en barricas de roble abiertas.
Envejecimiento
Crianza de 14 meses en fudre de roble.
Embotellado
En marzo de 2023.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2021 Las Alas de Frontonio La Tejera was produced with Garnacha interplanted with some Macabeo from a 1.4-hectare, 85+-year-old vineyard on clay, slate and quartzite soils at 630 meters in altitude with a northwest orientation in the village of Alpartir. It fermented with 100% full clusters and native yeasts in open-top concrete and matured for 14 months in Italian oak foudres. It has 13.5% alcohol, remarkable freshness and acidity and a tantalizing nose with explosive aromas of tangerine peel; the whole 2021 vintage feels quite citrusy, but this has special nuances. It's super precise as well as expressive, floral, nuanced, elegant and complex. The wine has energy and grip, with tons of flavor, flowers and tangerines, again, and tannins that are very elegant and fine. This is an awesome Garnacha with a different and strong personality. A very special wine. 4,166 bottles were filled in March 2023. - Luis Gutiérrez.

Silky, pure and poised. This field blend of Garnacha and Macabeo comes from slatey soils with more quartz content, producing a fresh and lifted wine with pretty rose and soto bosque aromas. Whole bunch in fermentation adds tension and a touch of bitter orange while the mountain surrounds – grapes are grown at 640m – bring a touch of something exotic, curry spice. A fine and frank mountain wine. 2024 - 2027.
