Tim Atkin:

From the north of the region, Arganza, this comes from an old vine parcel of Mencía that
was grafted with Godello and grown at around 700m. With pear and green apple, this is
much more about petrichor-like minerality with a really intense and structured palate,
rather than simply primary fruit. It is a Godello that offers beautifully integrated oak, that
gently supports the wine, and impressive depth. One to contemplate and enjoy with plenty
of time. 2026-34

The Wine Advocate:

The white Godello 2024 La Salvación was produced with grapes from a one-hectare centenary plot on clay and slate in Arganza, the northernmost and cooler village in Bierzo, and another similar plot. The centenary plot was regrafted from Mencía to the old Godello clone some 20 years ago, and it had some hail this year, which is why he added the second plot. The destemmed grapes were pressed in a pneumatic press, and the juice fermented in 500-liter oak barrels after setting for 24 hours. It matured in those barrels for one year, with the lees but without bâtonnage. It has 13.1% alcohol, a pH of 3.1 and 7.06 grams of acidity, all natural; it's a year with a good and slow ripening, when the grapes developed more complexity while keeping the freshness and acidity. This wine has a complex nose and is vibrant and tasty, direct and sharp, with a chalky feeling. 7,400 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2025.
