Mallaura 2024

The 2024 Mallaura Tinto, the second vintage of this new red blend, was produced with 60% Monastrell and 40% Graciano, an unusual blend that works surprisingly well. It was produced with grapes from 30-year-old vines in Casa Colau, where he moved in 2020. It follows the path from the same vintage and is serious, a little closed, austere and nuanced, elegant and insinuating. It's perhaps a little more serious this time, less ethereal than the 2023, perhaps more Mediterranean. In the future, it might have more Mediterranean grapes, as he has planted Forcallà, but he used Graciano because it's a grape he liked during his time in Rioja. It's fresh and herbaceous, like a more herbal Monastrell. This is still very young and has abundant, chalky tannins that might need some time in bottle. 2,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2026.
