Descripción

Monovarietal elaborado con las mejores uvas de su pago. Es el vino que mejor representa a la Tempranillo de Abadía Retuerta y resulta un fiel reflejo del estilo de la casa. Apuntes frutales, con notas de grosella y de monte bajo y un paso por boca complejo y rico. En bodega destacan que estamos ante una añada prometedora, marcada por la intensidad y la concentración.

Cata

Nariz
Compleja y elegante, con aromas de frutas rojas y negras maduras con notas especiadas y balsámicas.
Boca
Destaca por su textura aterciopelada y por unos taninos sedosos. Cuenta con una acidez que aporta equilibrio.
Temperatura de servicio
Se recomienda servir a 16 ºC.

Los viñedos, ubicados en Sardón de Duero (Valladolid), se esparcen por laderas orientadas al norte hasta una altura que alcanza los 850 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
Edad
Viñedo plantado entre 1991 y 1994.
Suelo
Aluvión y canto rodado.
Clima
Continental. En invierno y primavera las lluvias fueron escasas. Se inicia el ciclo con temperaturas frescas y brotación tardía, pero enseguida llegaron las altas temperaturas y se recuperó el retraso inicial.
Cosecha
La vendimia se realizó el 3 de octubre.
Envejecimiento
Crianza de 17 meses en barricas de roble francés.
Embotellado
En mayo de 2021.

The Wine Advocate:

2019 was a warm and dry year when the 2019 Pago Negralada, a single-vineyard Tempranillo from the lower part of the estate, a cooler place adequate for this short-cycle variety, showed good ripeness and a very good homogeneous vintage. The grapes fermented with their own isolated yeasts for 12 days, as extraction is quick, and the wine matured for 17 months in oak barrels, 66% of them new. The oak is neatly integrated, and the wine is medium to full-bodied and has a soft texture and the mellow mouthfeel from a warm and ripe vintage. 21,640 bottles produced. James Suckling:

A brooding profile with notes of espresso, walnuts and subtle dark fruit. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, built around a precise structure and firm, fine-grained tannins. Decanter:

Imposing notes of plump black cherries, plums and raspberries glazed with a savoury veneer of charcuterie and leather. Fine-grained and shapely with an umami finish.
