The 2022 Paraje de La Virgen is a small-scale red carefully handcrafted from a small old plot of vines planted in 1920 in the zone known as La Virgen in the village of Lanciego. It fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts and matured in 600-liter demi-muid for one year. It has aromas of wild berries and herbs, and it's open, clean and expressive, with integrated oak and a medium-bodied palate, medium ripeness and 14% alcohol, while keeping the freshness and balance. 8,000 bottles were filled in August 2023.
Paraje de la Virgen is a 0.7-hectare parcel in Lanciego that was planted just over a century ago in the immediate aftermath of phylloxera. Fermented with 15% whole clusters, it's a field blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo and white grapes that shows the coolness of its terroir. Fresh, sappy and acid-driven, it combines redcurrant and pomegranate flavours with some subtle, stony reduction. 2024-29
