Hacienda Monasterio es uno de los tintos más destacados de la Ribera del Duero. Un vino que añada tras añada se convierte en sinónimo de equilibrio, finura y frescura, grandes características de un clásico con buen potencial de envejecimiento. Presentado en formato magnum de 1,5 litros.

Vista
De color rojo-violeta muy intenso.
Nariz
Muy mineral con mucha fruta roja sobre un fondo de hierbabuena. Los aromas primarios y secundarios aparecen en perfecta armonía con los terciarios de su larga crianza en barrica.
Boca
La entrada es suave y muy equilibrada con un tanino nervioso que aporta estructura y mucha frescura, dando paso a su carácter frutal y mineral. Su equilibrio, mineralidad y frescura auguran un gran potencial de envejecimiento en botella.

The Wine Advocate:

The superb 2021 Hacienda Monasterio was produced with 80% Tempranillo, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot/Malbec cropped at 14.5% alcohol from a cool year. The soils have a high proportion of limestone that marks the wines with a stony and chalky personality, and this 2021 has even more restraint and seriousness. The oak is neatly integrated—it spent 18 months in French oak barrels, 20% of them new, with a small portion in oak vats and 500-liter foudres. Carlos der Río compared it with the 1996 (possibly the greatest vintage at the property... together with this?), a year with clean, ripe fruit, contained ripeness and alcohol and terrific balance on the palate. It feels like it can age for a very long time, as it has the components, the freshness and acidity and the balance to develop nicely in bottle. This is the direction they want for future vintages. They produced 237,200 bottles. It was bottled in June 2023.

Produced in what Carlos de la Fuente calls the "textbook" 2021 vintage, this is a wonderful expression of a mostly south-facing slope of the Finca Hacienda Monasterio. Pairing Tempranillo and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon - one of the highest amounts in the region - it has aromas of graphite, cedarwood and coffee bean, flavours of blackcurrant and black cherry, layered tannins and plenty of underlying zip and acidity. 2028-38
