Esta añada 2023 se enmarca dentro de la nueva y brillante etapa de la casa, tras la asunción en 2022 de Sandrine Garbay como directora general, tras 27 años de enóloga jefe en el mítico Château d'Yquem. Sauternes en esencia.

Descripción
Viñedo con certificación de agricultura ecológica desde 2011, siendo el primer Premier Grand Cru Classé de 1855 en obtenerla.
Edad
Entre 35 y 40 años.
Cosecha
Vendimia manual.
Vinificación
La fermentación se realiza en barricas nuevas, de un uso y de dos usos, con una duración de tres semanas a dos meses según la añada.
Envejecimiento
Crianza de entre 18 y 24 meses en barricas de roble francés, el 100% nuevas. Cuenta con 130 gramos de azúcar residual por litro.

James Suckling:

This is really something, with such depth of fruit, layered phenolics and intense botrytis character. The dried mushroom dust on the palate is so intense and textured. Very sweet at the end, but fruity and framed. From organically grown grapes. Real Sauternes. 65% semillon and 35% sauvignon blanc.

The Wine Advocate:

A blend of 65% Sémillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc, containing 130 grams per liter of residual sugar, the 2023 Château Guiraud is vibrant and expressive, revealing aromas of apricot, exotic fruits, spices, white flowers and pineapple. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and deep, it is finely balanced, built around a lively core of fruit and defined by a beautifully judged, gastronomic bitterness that brings energy and precision to the finish.

Decanter:

Sweet and thick, this is unctuous and filling with the sweetness offset slightly by the acidity but this leans into full noble rot with nuttiness, bitter tropical fruit and citrus tang. This has a great drinkable aspect to it, so moreish and tasty, you just want another sip straight away. Delicious.
