The Wine Advocate:

The 2024 Bakan is a varietal Mazuela/Cariñena, of which only 50 hectares remain in the whole of Navarra, produced with grapes from Pontigos. It fermented with 20% full clusters and some 3% Viura in open-top 1,000-liter tanks and matured in a used 500-liter barrel for a shorter time, some eight months instead of one year. It comes in at 13.6% alcohol, with a pH of 3.17 and 6.4 grams of acidity, with contained ripeness and very good freshness. They are going for less time in oak and more time in oak in general. It has a characterful nose, with a combination of flowers and bright red berries with some notes of tree bark. It has depth and complexity and is full-bodied and concentrated, with tannins but with superb balance and very good freshness. It's a step up from the previous vintage, and it has aging potential. 2,600 bottles were filled in July 2025.

James Suckling:

Minty with a very subtle touch of vanilla, combined with the characteristic herbal lift of mazuela (carignan). Medium- to full-bodied, with an evenly distributed thread of fruit that runs the length of the palate. Juicy and powerful yet balanced by bright acidity. Drink or hold.
