Mauro Molino Barolo DOCG Conca 2021

This is the pearl in this precious collection of new releases from Mauro Molino. With only 3,066 bottles created, the 2021 Barolo Conca comes from a hillside site in panoramic La Morra with southern exposures. The oak is prominent here (with malolactic fermentation and maturation in barrique), but the Conca fruit has the natural structure and texture to hold an elegant and focused composure throughout. Indeed, I'd say that the wine's intense sharpness is its prettiest attribute. However, I do recommend that you set it aside for more bottle aging.
So aromatic, with crushed stones, white pepper, chalk, candied cherries and hints of watermelon. Medium- to full-bodied with pretty depth of fruit and a vivid and crunchy finish. Agile and weightless. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years. Try after 2027.
