Among Rioja’s most ambitious rosados, this is a stand-alone Mazuelo from the Pago Lucas inside the larger Finca Ygay. Showing no sign of the rain that fell during the harvest, this is a concrete-aged delight, with appealing pomegranate and wild strawberry fruit and tangy rhubarb-like acidity. 2026-29
The 2024 Primer Rosé, for now their only rosé, is a pale and modern example produced with Mazuelo/Cariñena grapes from a specific plot in their property, five hectares in Pago Lucas, planted in 1985 at 350 meters above sea level on stony soils, where the variety thrives. The grapes were handpicked the 5th of October, then destemmed and lightly pressed. The must was racked and put to ferment in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts at 10 degrees Celsius and kept with the fine lees for six months. It's a pale and delicate rosé, almost a blanc de noirs, with notes of dry rose petals and some peachy, slightly musky notes. They want to keep the varietal character in a wine that is medium-bodied, with contained ripeness, 13% alcohol and with integrated acidity, a pH of 3.55 and 4.82 grams of acidity (tartaric). It pretty much keeps the line of the 2023. 7,950 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2025. The next vintage will come in a Burgundy bottle similar to the Capellanía white.
