Forlong Blanco 2018

I was quite surprised by the golden/orange color of the 2018 Blanco (and also the 80/20), where the profile was more of an "orange wine," both in the color and the aromas and also the faintly tannic palate. It feels more concentrated and structured. Alejandro Narvaez from Forlong explained that they did one week more of maceration with the skins and they also did more bâtonnage, so they clearly extracted some more. I think the process is a bit too strong and tends to mark the wine more than a softer vinification. With time in the glass, it developed more medicinal and balsamic aromas, and the wine came through as if it was from a ripe year. 22,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2019.
