Descripción

Echo es el segundo vino de Château Lynch Bages, a pesar de que su suavidad y estructura en boca recuerda al grand vin de la maison. Recibe su nombre de la ninfa de la mitología griega, Echo, que fue enmudecida como castigo por distraer a Hera, cuando Zeus buscaba otras mujeres entre las mortales. En defintiva, un tinto que aunque, como sostienen desde la bodega "no es el primero en hablar (...), tiene mucho que decir". En esta añada, jugoso, con una textura calcárea y gran intensidad frutal.

El contexto meteorológico en 2021 fue complicado por momentos, marcado por temperaturas frescas y un ligero déficit hídrico, dando como resultado una añada en la que cobraron importancia los grandes 'terroirs'. El tiempo de finales de septiembre permitió que las Cabernet alcanzaran una madurez perfecta y una calidad particularmente alta.

35 hectolitros por hectárea.
Vinificación
A partir de una doble clasificación manual, primero en el viñedo, luego en mesa en la bodega.
Envejecimiento
14 meses en barricas de roble francés nuevas y usadas de un año.

James Suckling:

Dark currants with blackberries and a touch of pencil shavings. Good perception of freshness despite the ripe black fruit. Tight, full-bodied and fine-grained on the palate. Long, structured and juicy. 64% cabernet sauvignon, 31% merlot and 5% cabernet franc. Give it two or three more years.

Decanter:

Blue fruits, subtle perfume, a juicy blackcurrant and stony minerality on the nose. Supple and juicy, a real sense of fun with detail to the fine tannins. Well balanced, gorgeous texture, depth and characterful. A great second wine still with terroir markers, a salty finish, chalky texture and grippy tannins. Still concentrated and serious, there’s an intensity to the fruit but really well delivered. Will be a beauty. 91 IPT. 3.69pH. Ageing 14 months, new and one year old oak barrels. 3.9 g/L total acidity. 91 IPT.

Wine Enthusiast:

This second wine is rounded with layers of fruit and soft tannins. It is juicy, full of berry and cocoa flavors. The wine's spice aroma and juicy aftertaste are attractive. Drink from 2027.

The second wine of Lynch Bages is the 2022 Echo De Lynch-Bages, a ripe, medium to full-bodied, structured beauty with a kiss of classic Lynch Bages richness and depth. Cassis, black raspberries, graphite, dried flowers, and hints of chocolate all define the aromatics, and it has ripe, fine tannins, good mid-palate depth, and outstanding length.
