The 2023 Pela Roques Bobal de Mustiguillo is part of the new range, using grapes from El Terrerazo at 800 meters above sea level from vines planted in 1990 on dolomitic soils with sandy texture. It fermented with 20% full clusters in a 3,500-liter oak vat and had a maceration time of five weeks. It matured in a small stainless steel tank for eight months. It has a moderate 12% alcohol, a pH of 3.2 and 6.91 grams of acidity. Despite the low alcohol and therefore the contained ripeness, the sensation was of very ripe fruit, verging on over-ripeness, very open and a little oxidative. The palate was better, super calcareous and chalky, serious. After writing that, Toni Sarrión showed me photos of the soil, and it is completely white, perhaps the richest in limestone they have. It feels like a very serious, mineral Bobal, but today it's a bit of a question mark because of the nose... Maybe it's dizzy from the recent bottling... 1,433 bottles were filled in September 2024.
