"The 2012 Antidoto is Tempranillo from grapes from Soto de San Esteban in the Soria province, the cooler part of Ribera del Duero, where stony and sandy soils abound. The idea here is to reflect the character of the grape more than the place, as this is only an entry-level red; the wine is aged exclusively in used barrels. Dark, with a pure nose of ripe black fruit, without any over- ripeness, with well-integrated notes from the wood, aromas of smoke, hay and sweet spices, it is serious and a little austere. The palate is medium-bodied, with abundant tannins and some creamy flavors ending slightly warm. This was bottled in January 2013 and has a bright future, but it needs a little time to improve its balance. From 2012, there will be a single-vineyard wine called La Hormiga that was about to be bottled when I tasted their wines. I hope to review it in my next visit to the region. Drink 2015-2018".
