"The 2013 Casa Cisca is produced with Monastrell from old head-pruned vines aged for 16 months in brand new 225-liter oak barriques (70% French, the rest American). This has always been a very powerful and ripe wine, to the point where in the initial vintages it was denied the appellation of origin because of its high alcoholic degree, something that was later changed in the appellation's rules and therefore admitted. It's in line with previous years, a powerful, generously-oaked, big and ripe Monastrell, with plenty of smoky and spicy aromas over a core of ripe black cherries and some rustic notes classical in Monastrell, a little earthy with hints of tree bark. It's full-bodied and savoury, reaching its balance with plenty of everything, tannins, alcohol and acidity. It ends dry and could be drunk with powerful food, but the best it yet to come if you have a little patience. Very good in its style, for fans of powerful oaky reds. 11,992 bottles were filled in July 2015".
