Descripción

Nos encontramos ante el second vin de Château Lafite, uno de los grandes nombres de Burdeos. Carruades proviene de unos viñedos situados en una meseta con el mismo nombre que fueron adquiridos por el dominio en 1845. A partir de un preciso coupage formado con las variedades clásicas bordelesas, esta añada muestra de forma nítida el encanto de este terruño privilegiado y de el maravilloso perfil de la Merlot en estas tierras arcillosas.

James Suckling:

Elegant and fruit-forward, with fresh herbs, plums, red currants and red berries. Expressive, juicy and poised, with medium body. Tannins are fine and firm, the bright finish lingering elegantly in the back of the nose. Lovely finesse. A blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot. Already charming and drinkable but can hold.

Decanter:

Round and pulsing with energy and life as well as having a deep core of red and black berry fruit. So juicy and clean and precise. Tension, lift, so appealing, approachable and enjoyable right now. There’s richness in terms of depth and layering but because of the acidity and purity of fruit its just so lifted. Nothing not to like here. Wow.

The 2023 Carruades de Lafite offers up aromas of cassis bud, cedar box, spices and orange zest, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, ample and charming palate animated by a lively spine of acidity. It's a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, without any Cabernet Franc or Petit Verdot this year.
