Descripción

El Reserva de Remírez de Ganuza refleja la esencia de la bodega. Está elaborado a partir de los hombros despalillados de los mejores racimos, solo aquellos procedentes de viñedos con una edad media de 60 años. Patrick Schmitt, editor jefe de The Drink Business y Master of Wine, lo seleccionó como uno de los diez mejores vinos del mundo de 2022.

Vista
De color cereza oscuro con borde granate.
Nariz
Fina, amplia y compleja. Regala aromas de fruta madura y confitada y recuerdos de tabaco y de especias dulces.
Boca
Sabrosa, especiada, con taninos maduros y bien pulidos. Tinto amplio, elegante y largo.
Temperatura de servicio
Se recomienda servir a 16 ºC.
Consumo
Óptimo hasta 2029 aproximadamente si se conserva en buenas condiciones.
Maridaje
Ideal con carnes rojas, con civet y con cerdo asado.

Viñedo y elaboración

Descripción
Uvas de parcelas seleccionadas al pie de las montañas de la sierra de Cantabria.
Edad
Una media que supera los 60 años.
Suelo
Arcillo-calcáreo.
Clima
Privilegiado con influencia atlántica y mediterránea.
Cosecha
Vendimia manual en cajas de 12 kilogramos.
Vinificación
Al llegar a la bodega, las uvas pasan a cámaras a una temperatura controlada y permanecen a entre 4 Cº y 6 Cº durante 24 horas. Posteriormente, las uvas pasan por la mesa de selección y en cada racimo se separan los hombros de las puntas. Esta referencias se elabora exclusivamente con los hombros. La fermentación tiene lugar en tanques de acero inoxidable y de acero de distintos tamaños y formas. La conversión maloláctica tiene lugar en roble.

Envejecimiento
Criana de 26 meses en barricas nuevas de roble francés de 225 litros.

The Wine Advocate:

The eponymous 2009 Reserva is a cuvée of Tempranillo and 10% Graciano, with some 5% of the volume extracted from the skin of the white Viura and Malvasia grapes that are used to ferment together, after the vinification of the white is done. As is usually the case here, it fermented in oak vats and went through malolactic in new barrels (mostly French) where it aged for two years. The difference between this wine and the Fincas from the same year is basically the vineyards used, which is a personal taste criteria of Fernando Remírez, so it changes from vintage to vintage. Then the rest of the process is the same. Here there is more structure, great power and sweet tannins with a very tasty finish. The wine has a modern profile and is still quite oaky, but I'm sure this wine will age in bottle to become much more classic. For comparisons sake, they were generous enough to uncork the 1992 and 1994 vintages of this wine, and they smell as classic as it gets; the 1992 was further developed, with more iodine aromas, more fragile, while the 1994 is still very young and lively. I believe this 2009 will grow into a very good, classic Rioja in bottle. 40,000 bottles produced.

Decanter:

Juicy, with lots of fruit and tertiary aromas, and a soft oak influence. The palate gives nice freshness, good balance and a persistent finish, uncomplicated but very attractive.
