El talento de Nicolas Audebert, director técnico de Château Rauzan-Ségla, brilla en esta añada 2022 de su grand vin que rivalizará en calidad con las cosechas más míticas de 2010, 2015, 2016, 2018 y 2020, según el crítico Jeb Dunnuck. ​​

Nariz
Domina la fruta negra madura y carnosa como la cereza, con notas cítricas de naranja sanguina junto a toques de savia y aromas complejos.
Boca
Tinto rico, poderoso, con taninos suaves, lo suficientemente unidos para vestir la fruta con elegancia y llenar el paladar y culminar en un final persistente. Las notas minerales, casi calcáreas, al final mantienen la energía del vino.
Temperatura de servicio
Se recomienda servir a 16 °C.

Viñedo y elaboración

Descripción
Los viñedos más viejos ubicados cerca del 'château' y del pueblo de Margaux, en la famosa, Terrasse 4, son la cuna del 'grand vin' de la casa. Desde 2017, toda la propiedad es cultivada siguiendo un enfoque orgánico.
Suelo
Pobre, con drenaje natural que favorece el enraizamiento profundo de la vid y compuesto por una amplia franja de gravas enterradas en una fina capa de arcilla.
Clima
Añada marcada por un invierno seco con heladas nocturnas a principios de abril, seguido de una primavera y un verano en el que el calor y las altas temperaturas se instalaron con fuerza, si bien en éste último se registraron algunos chubascos tormentosos. El otoño soleado y sereno garantizó una cosecha tranquila.
Rendimiento
30 hectolitros por hectárea.
Cosecha
Vendimia manual efectuada del 16 al 28 de septiembre (Cabernet sauvignon), entre el 2 y el 15 del mismo mes (Merlot) y el día 16 para la Petit verdot.
Vinificación
Separadamente por parcela e incluso intraparcela en depósitos de acero inoxidable a temperatura controlada y con encubado por gravedad.
Envejecimiento
Crianza de 18 meses en barricas de roble francés, el 50% nuevas.

This château has been firing on all cylinders of late, no doubt due to the talents of technical director Nicolas Audebert, and a wine that's going to flirt with perfection is their 2022 Château Rauzan-Ségla. Powerful notes of black cherries, currants, smoked tobacco, chocolate, and leafy herbs all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, layered, concentrated texture, ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. This is a legit great wine that's going to rival the 2010, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2020.

Aromas of blueberries and blackberries with walnuts and hints of tar that follow through to a medium to full body with plush and velvety tannins and a lovely, caressing mouthfeel. It closes up at the end. Extremely long, pure and structured. Classic 72% cabernet sauvignon, 26% merlot and 2% petit verdot. From organically grown grapes. Give this at least until after 2030 to open and come around.

The 2022 Rauzan-Ségla is showing well in bottle, unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark berries and cherries mingled with licorice, burning embers and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, ample and velvety, it's suave and seamless, with its dense core of fruit framed by powdery structuring tannins that lend a more evident backbone than it exhibited en primeur. As readers may remember, the 2022 is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot; and in 2022, the east-facing sides of the vines, which see the afternoon sun, were picked separately, along with anything that showed signs of stress.

A fine balance between structure and fruit gives this wine a powerful richness. It has a textured complexity, a black chocolate aroma and ripe blueberry and dark red fruit flavors. Drink from 2028.
