Descripción

Château Chasse-Spleen es uno de los mejores embajadores de los tintos de la denominación Moulis. Los magníficos suelos pedregosos cercanos al Grand Poujeaux aseguran una calidad excepcional de las variedades con las que se elabora. En esta añada al coupage dominado por Merlot y Cabernet sauvignon y completado por Petit verdot se le suma un pequeño aporte de Cabernet franc, que termina por redondear un vino muy gastronómico.

De color borgoña oscuro y brillante.
Nariz
Fresca, intensa y aromática. Regala aromas herbáceos, de casis y de mora junto a apuntes de cacao y de regaliz.
Boca
Con un ataque franco, densidad, una textura agradable y unos taninos finos. Exhibe un final muy persistente y cautivador.
Temperatura de servicio
Se recomienda servir a 16 ºC.

James Suckling:

Firm and linear with medium to full body and chalky, slightly tight tannins. Hints of walnuts and dark berries at the end.

Decanter:

Cool and crisp, a little sombre at first, the dense tannins and liquorice, blue fruit and soft herbal aspects at the fore but there is juiciness here, good depth and lovely precision where you feel the edges to the frame and the quality of the tannins, even though they're full and mouthcoting. Nice potential with cool freshness. Calm and confident, still with enough acidity to keep the life and energy, but a touch more serious than some others. Lots to like here and will age well. Yield of 34hl/ha. Harvest 17 September - 6 October. 2% Cabernet Franc completes the blend.

The 2022 Chasse-Spleen was showing especially well, bursting with aromas of cassis and plums mingled with licorice and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with levels of texture and mid-palate amplitude unusual at this address in recent years, this supple, charming Moulis should offer a broad drinking window. 90 - 92+
