Opinión de los críticos
The Begali 2021 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico packs a punch (with a high 16.5% alcohol content) and textural heft that is imparted onto the wine intentionally and with great care thanks to the unique appassimento process. Amarone is made with pressed raisins instead of fresh grapes, and this accounts for its natural intensity. The Begali family (with multiple generations at the helm since Giordano Begali founded the estate in 1943) is one of the best at pulling out the special character of this unique school of winemaking.
A complex Amarone that’s more restrained than obviously fruity. It shows intense aromas of flowers, bright red cherries and a hint of leather. Medium-bodied with firm, bony yet velvety tannins, crisp acidity, a tense, lively finish and a peppery aftertaste. Best after 2026.
Bright, light garnet red in colour. Intense and multi-layered on the nose, with plenty of blackberry and dried plum, followed by a hint of chocolate, cocoa and leather. The palate is powerful and warming, with pronounced but fine tannins and a long finish.
