Nos encontramos en un lugar del mundo en el que la Syrah se expresa en su máxima dimensión. En Hermitage, en el norte del Ródano, Michel Chapoutier lleva toda una vida sacando a relucir lo mejor de sus colinas. Monier de la Sizeranne compone con tres de los mejores lieux-dits (Bessards, Greffieux, y Méal and les Beaumes) para conseguir un tinto con un perfecto equilibrio entre estructura, mineralidad y frescura.

Color granate intenso.
Nariz
Aromas de fruta roja (frambuesa, grosella negra) con un toque de regaliz.
Boca
Redondo, elegante y con taninos concentrados. Destacan las notas de grosella negra, frambuesa y pimienta.
Temperatura de servicio
Se recomienda servir a 16 ºC.
Consumo
Hasta 2035 si se conserva en óptimas condiciones.
Maridaje
Perfecto con carnes intensas como la caza.

Viñedo y elaboración

Descripción
Los viñedos proceden de tres parcelas míticas como Les Bessards, Le Méal y Les Greffieux.
Suelo
Mezcla de suelos graníticos, aluviales, gravas y limo con guijarros.
Cosecha
Vendimia manual.
Vinificación
Despalillado completo y fermentación en depósito de hormigón, con dos pisados diarios, a una temperatura de entre 30 y 33 ºC.
Envejecimiento
Crianza de 18 meses en barricas de roble (85%) y depósitos de hormigón.

I was blown away by the 2019 Hermitage Monier De La Sizeranne, and if there’s a best buy out there in 2019 Hermitage, this might be it. Blackberries, black raspberries, spice box, new leather, and bouquet garni all dominate the bouquet, and it’s full-bodied, with a round, layered mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a rare mix of richness and elegance. It’s a stunning wine that’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face over the coming 2+ decades. Hats off to the team at Chapoutier!

Decanter:

Lovely freshness, teamed with deep concentration and saltiness. Grippy, succulent, sweet tannins, enough acidity to balance, and very expressive fruit. Best vintage in a long time, in part thanks to a new Boucher press, says Maxime Chapoutier. A very good vintage for this cuvée. All domaine vineyards. Les Bessards, Le Méal, Les Greffieux.

Blended from the lieux-dits of les Bessards, Greffieux, le Méal and les Beaumes, Chapoutier's 2019 Hermitage Monier de la Sizeranne offers up scents of cedar, leather, spice, dried cherries and fresh plums. It's full-bodied, rich and almost creamy on the palate, then softly dusty on the long finish. While not as concentrated or cellar-worthy as the various selections parcellaires, it's still a worthy effort, not an afterthought.
