Opinión de los críticos
Who says Rioja can't make world-class white wines? This pure Viura from the cooler zones of Albelda de Iregua and Badarán ages like a dream. Saffron, beeswax and wet stone aromas lead you into a palate of camomile, lime and lemon curd with remarkable concentration and palate length and nuanced oak. Long and remarkably complex. 2022-29
The 2008 “200 Monges” Seleccion Especial Blanco is only the second vintage for this special selection of 70% Viura, 20% Malvasia and 10% Garnacha Blanca from 40-year-old vineyards, which fermented in new oak barrels for 26 days at 14º C and matured in these barrels for 14 months with a further two years resting in vat and one more in bottle before it’s sold. It’s golden-colored with a balsamic nose of noble woods and spices, toffee and roasted aromas, with the fruit in the background. The palate is surprisingly light with good freshness, the flavors still marked by the wood, which will benefit from some extra time in bottle. Drink 2014-2016.
