Descripción
Aseguran los hermanos Usarralde que "este vino reivindica el saber y la tradición del blanco riojano". La misma Viura de las tierras altas de Rioja Oriental, que vendimian para elaborar su vermouth premium Mon Dieu con el que se iniciaron como elaboradores, en esta ocasión envejece casi dos años en una barrica de 600 litros cedida por Nicolas Joly, viticultor de Loira gran amigo de los propietarios de la bodega. El resultado es un blanco con dinamismo, madurez no exenta de gran frescura y mucha clase.

Since 2010, they have kept three 600-liter barrels of Viura, a wine for their vermouth, but six years later, they produced their first Gran Reserva with the grape, the 2016 Gran Reserva Blanco. It was produced with grapes from a 74-year-old vineyard on gravel and sand soils. It fermented in 2,000-liter foudre, where it was kept for nine months with lees, and then matured in 600-liter French oak barrels for 15 months and kept in bottle for no less than two years. It's a powerful white with 14% alcohol, a pH of 3.4 and 5.2 grams of acidity. It has a nuanced, complex and developed nose with notes of chicken broth, white pepper and a touch of diesel, balsamic, medicinal and aromatic. It feels very young for its age. It has a seamless palate with a velvety and balanced mouthfeel, pungent flavors and a long and chalky finish. 1,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2019. - Luis Gutiérrez.
