There is a new light red, almost a rosé, that was previously bottled for their distributor in the Canary Islands and is now offered to other customers—the 2018 La Floridita, the first wine to be bottled from that vintage. This is pure Listán Negro from old vines in the Paraje Las Suertes. It fermented destemmed in concrete vats and was pressed after four days to finish fermenting without skins in two 500-liter oak barrels, where the wine was kept for three months. 2018 was a cooler year with more rain and more problems with oidium and mildew; this presented some challenges but at the same time provided the conditions for grapes with good ripeness and wines with great freshness, following the line of 2016. This is extremely young, perhaps bottled a little too early, which probably adds to the reductive character of the wine. It's very pale; it could be a dark rosé with a little bit of carbonic gas. This is light but has some structure, and it's easy to drink but is serious, with good fruit, very pleasant. Perhaps I'm not tasting it in the best moment of its life. Decant energetically in advance. 1,200 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2019.
