Descripción

La Touriga nacional con la que se elabora este tinto procede del viñedo más exclusivo de la casa. Y es esa excelencia la que logra materializarse en un douro sabroso, aromático y con una larga vida por delante, si tenemos en cuenta la puntuación otorgada por Mark Squires, crítico de The Wine Advocate para Portugal.

Muestra una excelente frescura aromática donde destacan sobre todo notas de frutos silvestres.
Boca
La entrada es muy elegante, evolucionando hacia un vino de sólida estructura apuntalada por taninos de fina textura. Su final es fresco y persistente.

Se recomienda servir a 16 ºC.

Viñedo y elaboración

Descripción
Viñedos ubicado a una altitud de 300 metros con exposición sur-norte.
Edad
Cepas de 36 años.
Clima
2019 fue un año desafiante, caracterizado por un invierno y primavera secos. A pesar de ello, en verano, las temperaturas amenas hicieron que el resto del ciclo transcurriese de forma normal.
Cosecha
Vendimia manual en cajas de plástico de 22 kilogramos efectuada entre el 26 de agosto y el 11 de octubre.
Vinificación
Rigurosa selección de racimos a su entrada en bodega. Tras el despalillado total y un ligero estrujado de las uvas, el mosto resultante se trasegó a depósitos de fermentación de acero inoxidable a temperatura controlada. Al final de la fermentación alcohólica, se realizó un suave prensado.
Envejecimiento
Crianza de 18 meses en barricas de roble francés.
Embotellado
En marzo de 2022.

Opinión de los críticos

The Wine Advocate:

The 2019 Touriga Nacional was aged for 16 to 18 months, depending on which of two plots was used, in 90% new oak. It comes in at 14.6% alcohol. Sensually textured and rather fragrant, this carefully constructed Touriga firmly announces itself. The blue fruits roll across the tongue, then the wine tightens and closes a little. As understated as this sometimes is, there is power here lurking underneath, which will stand this in good stead as it ages, but it is perfectly balanced and a lot more refined than either the Touriga Franca or Tinta Roriz in this report. It is by far the most sensual of the three monovarietals in this report, the one that promises to caress the palate. Concentrated and structured, it seems poised to age well. You could approach this now, but giving it a couple of years, at least, in the cellar would surely improve it. Coming on the heels of the lovely 2018, this is a fine follow-up. Which is better? That's a question to be definitively answered in a few years when they are both here together and have some age on them. They seem on the same level. There were 10,102 bottles produced, plus some large-format bottles.
