About as classic as they come, the 2018 Saint Joseph Le Grand Pompée was destemmed and brought up in vats. It offers lots of red and black raspberry fruits, graphite, new leather, and crushed rock notes to go with a medium-bodied, concentrated, elegant style on the palate. I love its balance, it has ripe, present tannins, and a great finish, all making for an outstanding barrel sample that will benefit from just short-term cellaring and have a decade or more of longevity.
