Descripción

Las viñas con las que se elabora Coudoulet crecen en suelos muy parecidos a los de su prestigioso Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Este tinto afrutado, especiado y fresco figura entre los mejores Côtes du Rhone.

Vista
Color rubí intenso con reflejos violáceos.
Nariz
Aromas de frutos rojos, especias y pimienta blanca con un toque de vainilla tostada perfectamente integrado.
Boca
El paladar es muy equilibrado, con frescura y aromas de mermelada de cerezas negras. El final es largo, con una encantadora intensidad aromática y taninos aterciopelados.
Temperatura de servicio
Se recomienda servir a 16 ºC.

Viñedo y elaboración

Descripción
30 hectáreas de viñedo con suelos de fondos marinos de Molasse cubiertos por depósitos alpinos diluviales. Estos guijarros llamados "Galets Roulés" juegan un papel importante: absorben el calor durante el día y se van refrescando lentamente por la noche.
Vinificación
La cosecha se clasifica en la bodega. Se calienta a 80 ºC con las pieles y luego se enfría hasta 20 ºC. La maceración clásica se hace en tanques de cemento durante 12 días. Prensado en prensa neumática. Mezcla de los diferentes varietales después de la fermentación maloláctica.
Envejecimiento
Crianza de 6 meses en fudres de roble.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2020 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel continues this cuvée's hot streak. A blend of approximately 30% each Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, with 10% Carignan, it boasts attractive floral overtones, hints of crushed stone and ripe cherry fruit. Full-bodied and impressively silky for such a young wine, it should be drinkable upon release and for at least a decade thereafter.

James Suckling:

Deep, savory nose with notes of ripe black cherries and plum cake, plus minty and floral notes. In spite of the considerable power and generous tannin, this is very focused and elegant. The long, energetic finish suggests this has years of life ahead of it. Drink or hold.

Decanter:

Easy-going, not too tannic, juicy, fresh and precise, with raspberry acidity. Good length, more structured than many Côtes-du-Rhônes. Tannins just a touch dry and fibrous compared to some finer Châteauneufs, but this is very good.

Bottled a month ago, the 2020 Côtes Du Rhône Coudoulet sports a vivid ruby hue and is a blend of 30% each of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre, with the balance Cinsault. It’s a ripe, rounded, medium to full-bodied effort that has lots of ripe red and blue fruits as well as notes of peppery garrigue and leather. Drink this juicy, elegant Côtes Du Rhône over the coming decade.
