Descripción

La típica mezcla de variedades del Médoc, con la Merlot y la Cabernet sauvignon dominando el conjunto y un aporte mínimo de Cabernet franc, domina este remarcable tinto que ha sabido ganarse una buena fama gracias a su sólida y equilibrada elaboración y su magnífico potencial de envejecimiento. Un vino que refleja a la perfección el terroir de grava y arcilla de su origen. Elegante y con personalidad.

Vinificación
Selección manual de la uva antes y después del despalillado. Vinificación clásica, en cubas de hormigón y acero inoxidable a temperatura controlada. Fermentación maloláctica en cubas.
Envejecimiento
En barricas nuevas de roble (el 90%) durante 12 meses.

Opinión de los críticos

James Suckling:

This has a pretty nose with dark spices, nut shell and cedar notes with a dark fruit backbone, following through to a medium body with firm and finely polished tannins that go on and on. Refined and nicely balanced with velvety texture. Lingering and chalky finish. Try after 2026.

Decanter:

Attractive spicy nose, plenty of Médoc character with layers of tannins. There is punch and personality here, and within the vintage it definitely has plenty to offer. Not as much depth as in certain vintages for sure, but this has depth, needs time to soften in the glass. Well made and well balanced with good potential for ageing. Touches of violet on the finish although acidities are pretty high. A yield of 42hl/ha. Drinking Window 2027-2044.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2020 Sociando-Mallet is very attractive, exhibiting aromas of cassis and plums mingled with notions of pencil shavings, loamy soil, tobacco leaf and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with lively acids and powdery tannins, it's a strong effort from a site that always does well in warm vintages. The 2020 is a blend of 53% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc.
