Always a stunning wine, the 2018 Languedoc Tete De Belier checks in as 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and the balance Mourvèdre and Carignan that was brought up in new barrels. It sports a deep purple color as well as a ripe, smoky nose of black cherries, black raspberries, peppery herbs, new leather, and loads of spice notes. This rich, full-bodied, powerful, heady beauty packs loads of fruit yet still stays light and graceful on the palate, with no sensation of weight or heaviness. It shows the pure, elegant style of the vintage nicely and is a stunning bottle of wine.
Opulent aromas of dark cherry, plum, sweet spice and smoky oak, then a palate of black fruit, clove and generous tannins.
A blend of 60% Grenache (aged in second use demi-muids), 30% Syrah and 5% each Carignan and Mourvèdre (all three varieties aged in new pièces of 228 liters), the 2018 Languedoc Tête de Bélier features lush scents of ripe plums and black cherries supported by hints of baking spices and vanilla. It's rich, sumptuous and full-bodied, with velvety tannins, lashings of vanilla and lingering plushness on the finish.
