Château Bellefont-Belcier 2024 en Primeur

Very good poise, tension and depth, with a light peppery, mineral and citrusy touch to the fruit. Good fruit here, with medium to full body and elastic, chalky tannins. There is something quite pure and transparent in the middle. So elegant, al-dente and long. An excellent wine from this difficult vintage. 70% merlot, 10% cabernet franc and 10% cabernet sauvignon. Picking between September 26 to October 8.

Fruity and vibrant, this is lovely, concentrated, round, ripe and generous with balanced acidity - bright but not severe - with fine tannins and lovely mineral, oyster shell salinity. It’s refined, there’s nice detail to the expression, but above all this balances texture and fullness with a sense of easy charm and a lifted, almost sweet liquorice aspect on the finish. Medium-bodied and concentrated on the palate, it has a pure, layered mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and integrated acidity. This château continues to never put a foot wrong, and their 2024 will absolutely be worth your time and money.

The 2024 Bellefont-Belcier is one of the best wines I have tasted here in some time. Dark and ample, but not at all overdone, the 2024 is impeccable in its balance. Hints of mocha, espresso, cloves and new leather meld into a core of dark-toned fruit.
