Cheval des Andes 2010
Cheval des Andes surge de la fructífera unión entre el saber enológico de Château Cheval Blanc y uno de los mejores terroirs de Argentina, Terrazas de los Andes. Estamos ante un vino muy interesante, fuera del estilo imperante en la zona por su coupage multivarietal, equilibro perfecto entre la madurez de la Cabernet y la frescura de la Malbec.

"The 2010 Cheval des Andes is produced with grapes grown at an old vineyard (planted in 1929) at Las Compuertas, in the Luján de Cuyo department of Mendoza plus grapes from La Consulta in the Uco Valley. The blend changes with each vintage and in 2010 they had very good Petit Verdot so the percentage of it is higher than ever. It's a blend of 60% Malbec and 20% each Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The wine shows great integration of the oak, with notes of blackcurrant and spices (black pepper), showing restraint and incipient elegance along with underbrush and hints of truffles. I think I've never seen such an elegant Cheval des Andes. The palate reveals very good balance between power and elegance with ripe, fine-grained tannins, good length and freshness. Stronger balsamic notes emerge with time in the glass. This is one of the finest vintages of Cheval des Andes, challenged maybe... by 2011! Keep an eye open for these two vintages. 60,000 bottles produced".
"The 2009 Cheval des Andes is a blend produced with grapes grown in Las Compuertas, in Lujan de Cuyo, from vineyards planted in 1929. It is a big, ripe blend of 59% Malbec, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot which is very deep purple-colored, with a bright rim and an opaque center. The nose is completely closed and ungiving, so you need to exercise your wrist and swirl your glass around energetically and you’ll get rewarded with subtle and complex notes of forest floor, leather, cigar box, and cured meat, but especially shiny, perfectly ripe black fruit aromas. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with velvety tannins, superb integration of the oak and focused flavors of cassis, blueberries, soil and faint violets. Great in a slightly international style, a little ripe. A big, ripe Argentine Cheval. Drink 2015-2022".
