Fedellos do Couto Cortezada 2015

"The 2015 Cortezada is pure Mencía from a plot that names the wine and surrounds the Pazo do Couto property where they are located (in the subzone of Ribas do Sil), from vines planted in 2002 on terraces with gneiss soils at 350 meters altitude and a southeast exposure. The hand-harvested clusters were fermented with indigenous yeasts in plastic bins at 20 degrees Celsius with manual punching downs for some 40 days. Malolactic was in used barrels, 300- and 500-liter ones, where the wine matured without racking for ten months. It has a superb combination of flowers, wild berries and mineral sensations that make it subtle and very showy, with a magnetic attraction that makes you go back to the glass over and over again. The palate is sharp with a clear mineral-influenced texture, long and tasty. This has to be one of the best values in Spain. 4,000 bottles were filled in December 2016."
