Pittacum Val de la Osa 2018
Description

Grown on slopes with northern exposure, this Mencía comes from 100 year old vines in a cool zone of Arganza. It is an intense wine with dark berries, forest floor and a little bit of spice as well as typical violet aromas of the area. Aged for 12 months in French oak, the wine offers some sweet chocolate notes but finishes quite savoury. It is a classic but elegant style of Crianza that will continue to develop with time. 2024-30
A full array of fresh blueberries, black cherries, mulberries and some dark earth to the nose. Quite succulent and vibrant with fresh tannins carrying the blue fruit to a pristine and sappy finish. Drink now.
The old Val de la Loba had to be renamed to 2018 Val de la Osa because of a problem with the brand. It comes from an old vineyard on clay soils, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in used French oak barrels for 12 months. It has the powerful style of the house, with 14% alcohol and generous but integrated oak, some tannins still present and a long, dry finish. 12,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022.
