On est face au projet de Toro Albalá dans le Bierzo. Ce rouge, fait avec du Mencía de Corullón, est classé comme vin de terroir, la meilleure note du Conseil Régulateur. Selon sa créatrice : « Dès qu'on a découvert cet endroit, on a su qu'on pouvait faire un super vin. Il surprend. Il se démarque. Il a quelque chose de spécial»

Climat
Millésime frais. Hiver et printemps généreusement pluvieux. Il y a eu un peu de grêle, mais ça n'a pas affecté les vignes. La pluie pendant les vendanges a pas mal influencé le millésime. Dans certains vignobles comme Castro, il a pas mal plu et on a dû récolter un peu plus tôt que prévu. À La Naveda et Vales, on a dû attendre que ça sèche, car la maturation est plus tardive. À San Salvador et Teso Rubio, les raisins ont été récoltés à maturité optimale, car dans ces vignobles, la maturation est plus rapide et il n'y a pratiquement pas eu d'impact de la pluie.

The 2021 Imalia Vino de Paraje La Naveda comes from four small plots in the zone known as La Naveda in the village of Corullón, where they saw something special and different. The wine has contained ripeness, 13.4% alcohol and aromas of wild berries, herbs and flowers, with a patina of sweet spices and toasty and creamy notes, most possibly from the élevage of 13 months in 500-liter French oak barrels. 1,880 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2023.

A vibrant and fruit-forward Bierzo that has aromas of raspberries, orange rind, plums and flowers. There’s a touch of white pepper, too. It’s medium-bodied, pure and appealing, with crunchy tannins and bright acidity. Drink now or hold.
