Intense oaky aromas, with some nice blackberry fruit and violet florals behind. The palate is rich, soft and open, yet packed with well-integrated fruity, oaky tannins, too. Really sleek and polished. (Medalla de oro en los Decanter World Wine Awards)
Like the bodega's Reserva, this Gran Reserva is a cuvée of Tempranillo and 5% Graciano, with maturation in mostly French and 30% American oak barrels. Using grapes from two parcels in Villabuena de Álava - Carraelciego and Carracastellano - this is savoury and sweet, with notes of red berry fruit, toast, tobacco leaf, leather and forest floor. 2024-30.
Racy red berries, plums and cherries to the nose followed by a tangy twist of black pepper. Medium-bodied on the palate, with tight yet refined tannins. Not a lot of depth here, but shows elegance and good length. 95% tempranillo and 5% graciano. Drink now.
The 2016 Gran Reserva was produced with Tempranillo and 5% Graciano that matured in 70% French and 30% American oak barrels for 24 months. The wine is balsamic and spicy, with smoky oak notes and plenty of tannins n the palate, in need of powerful food. It's a bit too dry on the palate, with a faint astringency on the finish. 37,843 bottles produced. Will the oak get integrated before it fades?
Muy rico
