Ronca de Mazalba 2 2023
Descrizione

The 2023 Ronca de Mazalba has to be the most impressive wine I've ever tasted from Méntrida proper. It comes from a single 1.3-hectare vineyard that was planted with Garnacha 40 years ago on sandy soils with silt and clay and has a south-facing exposition cushioned by the influence of a water stream nearby. It fermented with 100% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and had a long fermentation of 65 days, with very light pumping overs, just keeping the cap wet. The élevage was in used 500-liter French oak and lasted 10 months. It has notes of violet pastille, translucent berries, aromatic herbs and exotic spices; open and extroverted, it jumps from the glass and is showy and exuberant. The palate is medium-bodied, really fine-boned and fluid, with elegant and polished tannins as well as pungent, clean and precise flavors and a long, dry finish. This is truly amazing. Unfortunately, they only produced 600 bottles in this first vintage. It was bottled in July 2024.
Only 600 bottles are produced of this Garnacha from a 40 year old parcel in the Valle de la Ronca de Mazalba at the foothills of the Sierra de Gredos. It is an honest reflection of the vineyard with the energy of granitic soils and finesse from a high concentration of sand. Here we find lavender, wild flowers and a touch of Turkish Delight, along with a pomegranate crunch on the palate. Ten months in 500L oak has brought a little structure to a highly defined, bright and elegant red. 2024 - 2032
Tremendo!Si fuera Jura o Borgoña valdria el doble!!!
