Golerga 2023
Description

The 2023 Golerga is pure Garnacha from the village of Lerga, in a different zone of Navarra, with more altitude, latitude and double the rain, produced with grapes that in the past were made into rosé or blended with grapes from elsewhere. The vines are at around 600 meters above sea level, and the grapes ripened thoroughly, to 14.1% in alcohol, keeping very good freshness (pH 3.26) and good acidity (5.8 grams). It fermented in concrete and stainless steel and matured in 500-liter French oak barrels and concrete. It has a very expressive nose, with complexity, layers and depth, a balanced and very tasty palate with fine tannins and a superb mouthfeel and a long finish. It's a wine of purity and intensity. This is stunning, one step up from the already impressive 2021. 7.066 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2024.
Representative of the cool, mountain town of Lerga, this 2023 Garnacha comes from six small parcels which exude the freshness and elegance of the area. The wine is fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts, and then aged for nine months in a combination of concrete and 500L French barrels. The wine displays a certain tamed wildness with pretty strawberry fruit and mint. It offers a chalky texture and lift, resulting in a wine with both substance and poise. 2024-30
