Côte-Rôtie es la subregión más septentrional del Ródano norte, un lugar histórico y conocido por la calidad de su Syrah. Aquí la casa Chapoutier, uno de los grandes nombres del vino francés, hace su apuesta con La Mordorée. Esta añada destaca por una buena estructura y un equilibrio bastante fresco.

Una añada 2022 marcada en líneas generales por la sequía y las altas temperaturas, a pesar de un enero con temperaturas bajo cero. La primavera llegó poco a poco, teniendo la pluviometría más baja desde 1959. En junio se produjo la primera ola de calor, por lo que la poda se redujo al máximo para que la sombra del follaje asegure la acidez natural de las uvas. Gracias a la viticultura biodinámica, las viñas se han ido adaptando a este calentamiento global.

Despalillado completo y vinificación en depósito de hormigón.

Crianza de entre 14 y 18 meses en barricas de roble de 225 litros.

I loved the 2022 Côte Rôtie La Mordorée, which comes from the Côte Blonde and Côte Brune lieux-dits and was 75% destemmed and is still resting in 30% new oak. Classy cassis and black raspberries fruit, liquid flowers, crushed stone, and some peppery, meaty nuances define the aromatics and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, elegant, focused mouthfeel, and ultra-fine tannins. It’s not massive yet shines for its incredible balance and complexity. It’s a beautiful wine in the making.

Decanter:

Rich, soft, juicy and velvety. Remarkably high acidity for the vintage. Bold tannins, more structured than most Côte-Rôties in 2022, showing good concentration and ripeness. A blend of lieux-dits Côte Blonde and Côte Brune, fermented separately then combined.

The Wine Advocate:

Crafted from a combination of Côte Brune and Côte Blonde lieux-dits, the 2022 Cote Rotie la Mordorée reveals a dense, complex bouquet of spices, espresso, licorice and dark berries mingled with hints of vanilla pod. Full-bodied and rich, it’s muscular and powerful, with a tannic core of fruit and a long, rustic, dry finish. Structured and densely layered, it will benefit from some time in the cellar to soften and develop further.
