Finca Genoveva Caíño 2020
Description
Sensationnel

L'avis des experts
The 2020 Finca Genoveva Caíño is very different from the rest of the Caíño reds; in this case, it's closer to a Cabernet Franc, with explosive peppery aromas and a balsamic twist (even bay leaf, moss...), very complex and ever-changing in the glass. This is elegant, perfumed, aromatic and precise. This has to be the finest Genoveva Caíño to date. Bravo! It has a moderate 12% alcohol and great balance with very fine tannins. It matured in a seven-year-old 1,500-liter oak foudre for 24 months.
A peppery Rias Baixas red with rose petals, red fruit and an herbal note. Medium-bodied with silky tannins and a delicate profile. Saline and beautiful. This comes from a single, nearly 200-year-old vineyard planted in Meano on poor granite soils. Whole cluster. Aged in a combination of foudres and barriques. Drink now or hold.
Some of the oldest Caíño Tinto vines in Rías Baixas, dating back to the 1820s, are the source of this foudre-aged red. Fermented with 100% whole bunches, it's a sappy, earthy, tobacco leaf and rose petal-scented delight, with lots of pithy acidity, flavours of redcurrant and cranberry and an earthy finish. 2025-30
