875 m Finca Carbonera Tempranillo 2020

Smoked spice, coffee and roasted meat to the blackberries and dark cherries. Quite juicy and fresh, with a tight frame of angular tannins coating the crunchy black plums and dark spices. Chewy now, so better to wait a year. Drink in 2023.

875m is a reference to the altitude of Finca Carbonera, El Coto's pioneering estate in the
Rioja Oriental. Aged in a 60/40 pairing of French and American oak, this is suitably fresh
and chalky, with layered tannins, scented wood spices of vanilla and cinnamon, red cherry
and bramble fruit and some underlying grip. 2024-29.
