Château Saint-Pierre 2024 en Primeur

Assez robuste mais droit, précis dans les épices douces de son nez et la petite touche de tabac blond parfaitement respectée par la première prise de bois.

Chewy and fleshy but ripe and juicy too, a good combination that really fills the mouth all the while staying sleek and finessed. I like this expression, great definition and detail while still being really enjoyable. It has structure and power with clearly ripe fruit and fleshy tannins. Grippy and with plenty of personality. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2024 Château Saint-Pierre (Saint-Julien) reveals juicy darker berries, scorched earth, graphite, and violet notes. Medium-bodied and focused, it has a pure, elegant, yet firmer style that I suspect will flesh out nicely over the course of its élevage.

Good depth for the vintage, showing blackcurrants, dark chocolate and pine cones. Firm and fine-grained with medium to full body. Impressive length.

The 2024 Saint-Pierre (Saint-Julien) shows more refinement and complexity on the nose compared to its "sibling," Gloria, this year. Blackberry, crushed stone and light pressed violet aromas unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins, cohesive and poised, with a very appealing and sustained finish. This is a great success in the context of the vintage and could well present up to 20 years of drinking pleasure. - Neal Martin. 

Floral, dark berry flavour, very clear, finely nuanced, semi-bitter chocolate, a hint of cinnamon from the wood. Powerful in the mouth, but also with a very natural balance. Fine-grained, dense tannins, which are neither green nor hard, lie on a creamy background. All the components mesh harmoniously, with a very good length and homogeneity for the vintage. Violet and raspberry with thyme and some cinnamon dust. Inviting. Very much on the fruity side, which really suits this vintage and with lightweight well judged tannins and juicy acidity. Good finish.
