Deze rode wijn, gemaakt van 100% Sangiovese druiven, wordt op traditionele wijze gemaakt en belichaamt de geest van deze prestigieuze regio. Een klassieke Brunello di Montalcino, met een lange rijping op vat en op fles en zijn typische tonen van zoete kruiden, kleine rode vruchten en gedroogde bloemen. Perfect bij wild, stoofpotjes met peulvruchten en "crostini met gestoofde lever"

Wijngaard en wijnmaken

Descripción
Wijngaarden op 570 meter boven zeeniveau.
Bodem
Gemiddeld diep met weinig vruchtbare grond en veel grind en stenen.
Klimaat
De koude winter en het vroege voorjaar zorgden ervoor dat de wijnstokken maar langzaam uitliepen. Dankzij de veel regen tijdens het groeiseizoen konden de planten genoeg polyfenolen opbouwen en perfect rijpen. Tot slot zorgden de grote temperatuurschommelingen in september en oktober ervoor dat de fenolische componenten in alle wijngaarden extra goed tot hun recht kwamen.
Wijnmaken
10 dagen gisting in roestvrijstalen tonnen en betonnen vaten bij lage temperaturen (max. 25 °C). Daarna nog eens 15 dagen maceratie.
Veroudering
30 maanden in Slavonische eikenhouten vaten van 25 en 40 hectoliter, daarna nog eens 18 maanden op de fles.

The Wine Advocate:

The Poggio Antico 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has a pretty bouquet with a unique set of aromas that recall dried cherries with hints of rose potpourri or fragrant acacia wood. Those delicate floral notes give lift and energy to the bouquet. The only distraction is the 15% alcohol content. Otherwise, this wine is a good example of a classic vintage. Production is 37,800 bottles.

A bright red color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is floral and aromatic of preserved strawberries, baby powder, and herbes de Provence. Medium-bodied, it has refined ripe tannins, even acidity, and a clean, stony textured finish. A lovely and charming wine, it’s drinking well now and will drink well over the coming 8-10 years.

James Suckling:

Lots of bark, mushroom and forest-flower aromas with crushed cherries. Complex. Medium body with lovely acid tension and a racy and pretty finish. Very fine tannins. Lots of energy here. Drink after 2025.

Decanter:

Crystalline and fragrant on the nose, smells welcoming. Smooth and sleek, lovely cool freshness from the first sip with energy and focus. I love the easy nature to this yet feels so polished at the same time. Feels careful and very approachable to like with touches of wet stone, cool blue fruit and a mineral finish. The acidity gives the tang while the fine tannins settle around the edges. Lovely.
