Beschrijving

Château de Francs Les Cerisiers is het kleine, geliefde project van twee grote namen uit de Bordeaux-wijnwereld: Hubert Boüard (Chateau Angelus) en Dominique Hébrard, voormalig mede-eigenaar van Château Cheval Blanc. Deze wijn wordt gezien als een kleine parel in een van de kleinste appellations van Bordeaux. Bij de eerste proeverijen van de 2020-jaargang komt hij over als een rode wijn met veel rood fruit ( framboos, rode bes), spanning en een goede structuur

Wijnmaken
Bij aankomst in de wijnmakerij worden de druiven ontsteeld en geperst. Fermentatie in thermisch geregelde roestvrijstalen tanks met pompen, overpompen en delestage.
Veroudering
Verwachte rijping van 12 tot 14 maanden in Franse eikenhouten vaten (een derde nieuw, de rest eenmalig gebruikt).

Meningen van critici

James Suckling:

Aromas of blackcurrants, chocolate nibs and sweet spices with an earthy character to it. Medium-bodied with firm, lightly dusty tannins and a juicy red and blue berry character. Refreshing and solid in the finish. Drink or hold.

Decanter:

Slate texture is clear straight from the go on Les Cerisiers this year, plenty of raspberry, redcurrant fruits, clear austerity but will soften over ageing, and there is great value to be had. Tension but also structure and punch. Drinking Window 2022-2028.

A charming, medium-bodied effort, the 2020 Château De Francs Les Cerisiers gives up lots of ripe red cherry and redcurrant fruits as well as notes of sandalwood, spice, and dried flowers. It’s balanced and has outstanding length as well as plenty of potential.

The Wine Advocate:

Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 Les Cerisiers comes skipping out of the glass with cheery notes of kirsch, raspberry coulis and plum preserves and plush hints of cinnamon toast and mossy tree bark. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with bright, crunchy red and black fruits, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and bold freshness, finishing perfumed.
