Description

The 2021 Valtuille La Vitoriana comes from a plot in one of the oldest and north-facing parts of the village, centenary vines with the Mencía-based classical field blend of the zone on clay soils. It fermented in two 1,000-liter vats with 15% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in two well-seasoned 500-liter French oak barrels. It has 13.5% alcohol and integrated acidity, nicely balanced and elegant. It has an impressive nose of violets and is very perfumed, showy and extroverted, with the coolness of a north-facing plot in the vineyard. But it's also serious and proportioned, very clean and harmonious. It's medium-bodied and really fine-boned. This is my favorite here today. Only 900 bottles were filled in February 2023. - Luis Gutiérrez.
Only 1,000 bottles were made of this highly valued paraje whose vines are 95-years-old and soils are clay with a high quartz component. While offering up pretty raspberry fruit and a fleshy palate, there’s a fantastic wild character with orange zest and garrigue, adding personality and interest. Inherently Atlantic in profile, the wine perfectly marries ripeness with a crunchy backbone, leading to a salty finish. 2024-27
