The Wine Advocate:

The new young and lively unoaked red 2022 El Predilecto has strong notes of licorice and herbs and a touch of fennel and cherry fruit. It was produced with 65% Garnacha from Badarán, Cárdenas and Cordovín and 35% Tempranillo from Samaniego, and it matured exclusively in concrete to avoid any makeup. It's fruit-driven and juicy, ripe and velvety. 36,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2023.

James Suckling:

Vibrant cherries, spiced berries, hibiscus flowers and a touch of chalk. Fruity and fine-grained, with firm, chalky tannins and a fruit-expressive finish. No oak here, but excellent quality. Drink or hold.

Tim Atkin:

Combining Garnacha from the Alto Najerilla with 35% Tempranillo from Samaniego in the Rioja Alavesa is a way to get plenty of zip and acidity into your wine. Taut, tangy and black- fruited, this is a crunchy, unwooded style with appealing underlying grip. 2024-29
