Hacienda Solano Selección 2023

I love the classical profile, in the best sense, of the 2023 Selección. It's a bright ruby red with a nose of wild berries, herbs and spices that, with time, develops a pungent note of licorice. It has great elegance and nuance, almost imperceptible oak (it matured for 12 to 14 months in 500-liter barrels and 5,000-liter concrete vats) and a medium-bodied palate with a silky texture. It is balanced and elegant, clean and fresh. This was again a warm and dry year, but they harvested earlier and managed to keep the alcohol at a moderate 13.5%. 30,199 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2025 but feels very harmonious and approachable.
