Etern 2020

The top-of-the-range red 2020 Etern came through as toasty and still quite oaky after it matured in new French oak barrels for one year. It's approximately 80% Cariñena from a vineyard planted in 1920 and another one from 1932 that also provided the Garnacha that makes up the rest of the blend. This is creamy and spicy, full-bodied, powerful and ripe, with 15% alcohol and good freshness, abundant, grainy tannins and a slate and rustic mouthfeel. Still oaky, but it should come into better balance with some time in bottle. Wait a bit to pull the cork. Only 649 bottles were filled in April 2022.
