Este Grand Cru de Saint Émilion es una de las referencias que nunca decepcionan. Así lo constatan las críticas de esta añada 2021, que superan en calidad a la muy apreciada cosecha 2018. Profundo, elegante, carnoso, con taninos refinados y una fina concentración.

Vendimia manual llevada a cabo del 30 de septiembre al 18 de octubre.
Vinificación
En depósitos de hormigón sin adición de azufre, a excepción de una dosis mínima al final de la crianza.
Envejecimiento
El 30% del vino en barricas nuevas, el 20% en toneles ovoides, el 25% en barricas usadas de un vino y el 25% restante de dos vinos.

Opinión de los críticos

James Suckling:

Racy strawberries and red plums with a subtle sweet-sour accent. Fresh herbs, stones and grapefruit as well. Medium body on the palate with a linear set of fruit rounded by chalky tannins. Juicy and vibrant finish. Already delicious.

Decanter:

Blackcurrants, rose petals and cocoa powder on the nose. Fresh and slightly tart in a lively way, the fruit and acidity is at the fore giving life and energy. It's light and lean, but doesn't feel as if it's missing the mid-palate depth, it's complete in its way with redcurrants, creamy black cherries, freshly-picked strawberries and a salty, wet stone finish.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2021 Bellefont Belcier opens in the glass with aromas of dark cherries, berries, violets and licorice framed by a discreet touch of new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless, it's layered and enveloping, with good depth at the core and impressive mid-palate plenitude, concluding with an expansive finish.

Checking in as a blend of 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 Château Bellefont-Belcier is another pure, elegant, seamless wine in the vintage that shines for its purity. Ripe strawberries, subtle blue fruits, sappy flowers, and a beautiful sense of minerality all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a supple, layered mouthfeel, and outstanding length. Tasted multiple times with consistent results. This estate continues to produce impeccable wines in every vintage.
