Artaxo, 'eik' in het Baskisch, verwijst naar het dorp Artajona, waar een van de twee oude Garnacha-wijngaarden ligt die deze wijn voortbrengen. De tweede wijngaard bevindt zich in Artasu. Twee landschappen en twee dorpen voor deze originele en unieke wijn

Verschillende micropercelen in de Navarrese gemeenten Artajona en Artazu, voornamelijk in kuipvorm, oude wijnstokken vrij van herbiciden, insecticiden en behandelingen met systemische producten, met de hand bewerkt met zwavel en lage doses koper.

Overwegend kalkhoudend.
Oogst
Handmatige oogst in kleine kisten.
Wijnmaken
Ontristing (50%) waarbij een deel van de trossen met de voeten wordt geplet. Fermentatie van elke perceel afzonderlijk met inheemse gist in roestvrijstalen tanks. Spontane malolactische gisting.
Veroudering
10 maanden rijping in gebruikte Franse eikenhouten vaten.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2023 Artaxo has great aromatic complexity and is layered, with ripe berry fruit, herbal hints and a smoky touch, spicy and with traces of cigar ash and perhaps a faint lactic twist. This is a blend of the best Garnacha lots from different vineyards. It was not produced in 2022 because of the smoke taint from the wildfires that year. In 2023, it added a new plot, in Eneriz, and also includes the usual Ostoki, La Tapada and El Yesal. It fermented with 50% full clusters in a soft and slow fermentation and matured in used 300- and 500-liter French oak barrels for 10 months. It has 14% alcohol with a low pH of 3.35 and 5.7 grams of acidity. It has a velvety palate with great elegance, balance and nuance and is fine-boned with chalky tannins and a stony sensation despite the juiciness. Delicious! 1,000 bottles produced. It was one of the 2023s bottled early. It was bottled in September 2023.

Una Garnacha 100 % vibrante y refrescante, con notas de melocotón, pera y pomelo ácido impulsadas por la acidez cítrica. Procedente de viñas de entre 35 y 70 años de Artajona y Artazu, es vivo gracias a la fermentación de algunos racimos enteros y tiene textura con taninos bien controlados que aún ofrecen suficiente agarre. Un tinto navarro brillante, enérgico y preciso. 2025-27.
