Descripción

La familia von Neipperg, con siglos de tradición a sus espaldas, es la encargada de crear este gran tinto bordelés calificado como Premier Grand Cru Classé. La calidad de la arcilla y de sus viñas viejas ofrecen un vino sedoso y potente, refinado y mineral. Cuenta además con la certificación ecológica francesa Agriculture Biologique desde 2014 y con el aval en esta añada 2024 de la crítica internacional como demuestran sus numerosas puntuaciones.

Vinificación
Clasificación antes y después del despalillado. Fermentación alcohólica en cubas de madera con temperatura controlada durante 24 días. Posterior fermentación maloláctica en barricas de roble nuevas.
Envejecimiento
Crianza prevista: 75% en barricas de roble (30% nuevas) sobre lías. 25% en cubas de madera.

Decanter:

Beautifully lifted raspberry and strawberry fruit on the nose, expressive, open and alive. Clarity and purity. Linear and straight, this has tension at the fore driving the cool and fresh blue fruit and liquorice from start to finish. I love the fun, joyous aspect to the fruit - it’s clean, detailed and so finessed. Some citrus-edged acidity showing the super low 3.35pH. Ageing 30% new oak barrels. A yield of 40hl/ha.

Revue du Vin de France:

On retrouve indéniablement le calcaire dans ce cru signé par 80% de merlot et 20% de cabernet franc. Après son habituelle retenue aromatique, il installe cette force naturelle, avec une droiture crayeuse, fougueuse, et un charme qui confine à la sucrosité. Traçant comme une flèche, il s'adresse aux amoureux de vins frais, septentrionaux.

Deep ruby/purple hued, the 2024 La Mondotte offers up impressive aromatics of cassis and black raspberries intermixed with scorched earth, graphite, and sappy, floral nuances. It's medium-bodied, has a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, juicy acidity, and outstanding length.

James Suckling:

This has a crunchy, al dente character, showing sliced cherries, oranges and hints of iodine. Medium-bodied with a lovely drive and length. Compacted and serious. Nicely knit-together already. From organically grown grapes. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc.

Vinous:

The 2024 La Mondotte was picked from September 23 to October 5 at 40 hl/ha and aged in 30% new oak. This has the best aromatics amongst the cuvées in the Van Neipperg stable, with redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, rose petal and light incense aromas. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a bit more weight on the mid-palate than the preceding Canon-la-Gaffelière, just a bit of piquancy and a tender raspberry finish. Enjoy over 12 to 15 years. With a gentle oaky, spicy profile, the 2024 La Mondotte reveals aromas of dark berries, pepper and licorice mingled with mulberry notes. Medium-bodied, chewy and structured, it's layered with elegant tannins and a lively mid-palate that segues into an oaky, firm finish.

Falstaff:

Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle edge brightening. Delicate aromas of blackberry and liquorice, heart cherry, orange zest, fine wood savouriness. Medium complexity, a hint of raspberry confit, red cherry, finesse-rich structure, mineral and persistent, a delicate food companion.
